About

Hello & welcome

I’d love to share a little about me. My name is Claire (she/her) and I am a Mental Health Social Worker and Psychotherapist. I work with children, adolescents and adults, mainly with issues pertaining to eating disorders and body image concerns, as well as other challenges. I’ve trained in:

– Gestalt Psychotherapy (Masters Degree)
– Social Work (Bachelors Degree)
– Expressive Therapies (Grad Cert)
– Sandplay Therapy
– Family Based Therapy (FBT) for eating disorders
– Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Enhanced (CBT-E) for eating disorders
– Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
– Circle of Security (parenting)
– 1,2,3 Magic and Emotion Coaching (parenting)

All of these wonderful therapies allow me to offer you a therapeutic experience that is grounded in evidence and tailored to you.

How I work

As a Social Worker I have worked in government (health, child protection) and non-government organisations (Eating Disorders QLD) for over 12 years before moving into private practice in 2018. My studies in Gestalt Psychotherapy have enriched and deepened my practice in ways that allow me to meet you wholeheartedly and authentically. I am very interested in supporting people who have experienced trauma and my therapy is gentle, empathic and considerate. I hold relational and emotional safety at the forefront of my work with people. Relate Therapy’s values of relatedness are infused into my therapy and I hope to offer a secure base from which you can make sense of, process and grow from challenges.

Ethical therapeutic practice is very important to me and I engage in regular supervision, training and my own personal therapy so I can bring the best of myself to you.  I am a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), Australian and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders (ANZAED) and am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW).  I also hold a current Working with Children Blue Card.

I am a mother, partner and friend and live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.  In my spare time I love nothing better than curling up the couch with a good book, swimming in waterholes with my kids or hanging with my chickens in the backyard.  I would like to say I grow vegetables but I suck at that!  I have had my own range of difficult life experiences such as living through traumatic events, single parenting, recovery from mental and physical health issues and others.  These experiences have offered me a depth of appreciation for the humanity within us all I and I look forward to meeting you in your humanity.
